Young Carer's Award
Just this afternoon, Mayor, Cllr Mark Mills-Bishop presented a young man named Connor with a Merit Certificate to honour his work both in his own family and in the community whilst his mother and younger sister watched in admiration.
Upon hearing about his life, I pondered what it means to be a Young Carer and how the experience impacts on lives - the gift in caring is that the struggle evolves into nectar, teaching the carer how to be independent and responsible, albeit whilst foreshortening childhood developmental stages.
Hertfordshire has identified 8,500 Young Carers, many of whom live in Broxbourne and some of these will be joining me at The House of Commons where many have learned to Stand UP, Speak UP!
